ANDRÉ PIÉRARD
1939-2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. André Piérard, husband of the late Claire Laurin, on August 20, 2024 at the age of 84. A resident of Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, he was the son of the late Arthur Piérard and the late Simone Maelstaf.

Mr. Piérard is survived by his daughters Emmanuelle (Jean-Paul Lam) and Valérie, grandsons Thomas and Oliver, brothers Jean (Huguette) and Paul (Suzanne) and sisters the late Marie-Claire (Paul Ranger) and Annie (the late Michel Ledoux), sisters-in-law the late Gisèle Laurin, the late Micheline Laurin, and Lise Laurin and brother-in-law Maurice Laurin (Marilyn). He is also survived by nephews and nieces, as well as many relatives and friends.

André Piérard was the first student to graduate with a master's degree in demography from the Université de Montréal. He spent his entire career in the sociology department at UQAM, joining it from its founding until his retirement. He was a professor devoted to his students.

The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Urgel Bourgie / Athos Funeral Complex, 1559 Rue de Montarville in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral complex and interment at 2:45 p.m. in the Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville Cemetery, 1668 Rue de Montarville.
