Suza Jean-Louis

1939-2024

Information

Suza Jean-Louis arrived in this world on January 5, 1939 in the town of Hinche, Haiti. She made the transition to her next existence on April 23, 2024 in Montreal, Canada. Suza lived her young life in Haiti, acquiring a strong sense of community that she carried with her all her life. Suza taught elementary school in Hinche before moving to Canada, where she changed careers and became a nurse. Both vocations fulfilled her desire to be a positive, nurturing force in her communities. Suza has lived a life without malice, and her devotion to God shines through in her spirit of service to humanity and her humble nature. She and her siblings were close, and their bond remained strong throughout her long and productive life.

Suza's two sons were the greatest joy of her life, and she worked tirelessly as a single mother to ensure their well-being, education and keep them on the straight and narrow. She rejoiced in their triumphs and encouraged her children to follow their own path, enabling them to approach the world around them without fear. When her grandchildren arrived, she enthusiastically welcomed the new generation and the chance to get involved with an abundance of girls. She taught those around her the importance of empathy and compassion, and remains an inspiration to all who knew her. Suza was an embodiment of love, and all those who knew her were her inspiration.
She may be gone, but the world is brighter, more charming because she was there.

Suza is preceded in death by her sister Gladys. She is survived by her brothers and sisters Margot, Dugué, Yvon, her two sons Patrick (Dominique) and Andy (Meredith), her grandchildren Arianne, Audrey, Émilie, Camille, Calvin, Natalie, a large extended family and a multitude of friends.

The family will receive condolences at the Urgel Bourgie/Athos Funeral Complex, 2500 Avenue Des Perron, Laval, on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a celebration in the parlor.
