It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Marie Assaf, who peacefully departed surrounded by her loved ones on March 13, 2024, at the CHSLD VIGI in Brossard at the age of 89.

Daughter of the late Joseph Assaf and the late Latife Zahlane, former wife of the late Gilbert Schami, and survived by her late husband's parents, the late Albert Schami (Stepfather) and the late Isabelle Tahan (Stepmother).

Marie, an extraordinary mother, is survived by her children Lydia, Yves, Gilles (Santina Sanzone), and Paul (Nathalie Bédard).

Grandmother Marie will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Jessica (Alex Florea), Jonathan (Brittany Schami), Mathew (Mary Owen), and Philippe (Noémie Martin), as well as her great-grandchildren Zachary and Aldéric.

She will be remembered by her late brothers Jean Assaf (Wadia Assaf) and Fares Assaf, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Roger Schami (Nouhad), Bernard Schami, the late Raymond Schami (Alcida Boissonault), the late Thérèse Schami (the late Elie Ghieh), the late Monique Schami (the late Bernd Reitinger), and the late Paulette Schami (William Dragoni).

She is also survived by her nephews, nieces, cousins, and numerous relatives and friends.

We wish to express our deepest gratitude to the staff of CHSLD VIGI for their exceptional work and invaluable support they provided to our dear mother since July 18, 2018.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Friday, March 22, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Urgel Bourgie funeral complex located at 8145 Chemin Chambly, Saint Hubert.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Sainte Rafqa Church at 820 Rue de Montarville, Longueuil.

Burial will follow at Saint-Georges Cemetery at 460 Rue Benoit O, Longueuil. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of a donation to the Parish of Sainte Rafqa.
