Yves Dagenais

1926-2023

Information

It is with great sadness that the Dagenais family announces the passing of Yves Dagenais, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones, at the age of ninety-seven.

He is survived by his lifelong wife, Aline Dagenais, née Méthot, his three proud children, Michel (Marie-Josée Samson), Marie and Danielle (James McMullan), and his much-loved grandchildren, Amélia (Thierry Côté) and Sandrine Couture, Thomas (Charlotte Goyer), Jérémy (Stéphanie Piché) and Léa McMullan, Béatrice (Francis Bouchaud) and Gabrielle Dagenais, as well as his two cherished great-granddaughters, Jacqueline and Cécile McMullan.

Born in Saint-Vincent-de-Paul in 1926, he was the son of the late Hervé Dagenais and Ludivine Décarie, and the brother of the late Jacques and Marie-Andrée Dagenais. He spent his life between Montreal and Glen Sutton, where he enjoyed spending time with his family in the country.

After studying medicine at the Université de Montréal, specializing in internal medicine and completing a fellowship at Harvard, he devoted his career to the Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal, where he taught clinical skills to numerous medical students.
He was a fundamentally caring man who dedicated his life to his family, patients and loved ones. He was interested in everything, loved to chat and read widely, especially about history and watchmaking.

The Dagenais family would like to thank Sara Chuyo and, in recent months, Katrina Ocfemia and her team, as well as the palliative care staff at CLSC Parc Extension and Nova, for their exemplary care. Thanks also to the L'image d'Outremont residence for its support.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 18, at 3 p.m., at Sainte-Madeleine d'Outremont Church, 750 Outremont Avenue. The family will receive condolences before and after the ceremony: at the church starting at 2 p.m. and then at the Complexe funéraire de Ville Mont-Royal, 1255 Avenue Beaumont, starting at 4 p.m.

For those who wish, donations to Nova Soins à domicile would be appreciated. https://www.novasoinsadomicile.ca/fr/contribution
