It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Dr. Sylvain Fafard, which occurred on February 6, 2022 at the Jewish Hospital of Montreal. He was the son of Jean-Claude Fafard and Micheline Lamoureux.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Lilian Saiki, his son Mr. André-Claude Fafard, his brothers and sisters and their spouses: Patrice (Magalie), Pascal (Nancy), Nathalie (Yves), Karina (Guaetan ), Bijan (Claudie), Payam (Nazanin), Vincent (Annie) as well as his nephews and nieces, his uncles and aunts, his cousins, his friends, his fishing friends, his colleagues and finally his patients who were so important to him.
Dr. Fafard completed his Doctorate in Chiropractic at Palmer University in Iowa in the United States. He graduated with an honorary mention for his clinical excellence. At the convocation, he was recognized by his peers with the prize for “most gentleman”. Diploma in hand, he left to open a chiropractic clinic in Peru, on a voluntary basis, working with the government of Peru to provide health care to the community. Upon his return to Quebec, he founded the AC Chiropractic Clinic in Ville LaSalle, where he had been working since 1995. Everyone in the community knew that Dr. Fafard showed a lot of listening, empathy, politeness, respect, generosity towards his patients, and this, according to the rules of the art. During the past year, he began a master's degree in neurological sciences at the University of Montreal where he once again demonstrated his scientific spirit, his passion for reading, his perfectionism and his love of a job well done.
Dr. Fafard has always been involved in his community by giving his time to the Hockey and Soccer Association of LaSalle, well known as "Doc", very open to others, interested in other nationalities and having a strong interest in languages by learning expressions in each language in order to better communicate with them. He was also socially involved in his community as a member of the Board of Directors of Destination Travail du Sud-Ouest de l’île de Montréal since 2001, i.e. 21 years.
Anyone who met Dr Fafard will remember what a beautiful human being he was with an exceptional soul. He knew how to impact us, personally, by his delicacy, his kindness, his listening, his benevolence, his great intelligence, his calm, his discretion, his smile, his love of life and nature, taking advantage of every moment of calm, both fishing and the beach. He only saw the positive in everyone he met and had his own way of meeting others.
The family will receive condolences on February 27, 2022 at the Urgel Bourgie funeral home at 1275 Dollard Avenue in LaSalle from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., a ceremony will follow at 7 p.m. You can also attend the ceremony virtually by clicking on the orange camera.
