We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Mrs. Maria de Lourdes da Ponte, wife of the late Duarte de Miranda. She passed away in Montreal, on January 14, 2022, at the venerable age of 97. She is survived by her three children, Duarte M. Miranda (Fátima Ribeiro), Marie-Josée Miranda and Luis Miranda; her five grandchildren, Myriam Stéphanie Miranda, Julie Miranda Gamet, Eric Miranda, Mélanie Miranda and Jonathan Ribeiro Miranda, as well as her ten great-grandchildren, Vincent and Laurent Miranda Bruneau; Misia and Eve Gamet Deschamps; Jacob and Yoan Miranda; and Zakael, Karylie, Matheo and Theotim Miranda-Bouvier. She also leaves to mourn her cousins, nephews, nieces and friends, in Quebec, the United States, Brazil and the Azores, Portugal, where she was born.

At the express request of Madame da Ponte, there will be no viewing or funeral service. Only a religious ceremony, strictly reserved for the immediate family, will precede her burial, in early February 2022.
