Nguyet Nghi Duong
It is with sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing, at age 86, of our beloved Aunt, on February 5, 2021, at the Lakeshore General Hospital. After a short and stoic battle with cancer, she has now started her journey to join her late husband of 63 years, Dr. Nguyen Trong Luong, PhD, leaving in bereavement her nephews and nieces from the Tran, Cornell and Duong families.
She was a loving, strong and formidable lady in every sense, a force to be reckoned with. She was a best friend and devoted partner of her husband, always helping him in his long career at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, then onto Vanier College where for more than 40 years she was the most gracious hostess to all his Vanier colleagues.
After his retirement, she followed him in all their wonderful trips and adventures; she created lovely homes and luscious gardens. She was the proudest and the happiest when she gathered, for her 15 course banquets, all her family and her nephews and nieces Châu, Bao, Quân, Hà, Thuy, Huy, Daniel and Elizabeth around the table.
We are grateful for the supportive care provided by the palliative care team at the Lakeshore General Hospital, and by the staff at Vivalis Residence.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Jewish General Foundation and the Vanier College Foundation would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive condolences on Sunday February 14, 2021 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Urgel Bourgie, 3955 Chemin Côte-de-Liesse in Ville Saint-Laurent. A memorial service at Quan Âm Pagoda will follow at a later date.
