Archpriest George F. Shaheen
Archpriest George F. Shaheen, fell asleep peacefully in the Lord, February 10, 2007 at Heartland Holly Glen.
He was born March 29, 1926 to George and Mary (Corey) Shaheen in Canton, Ohio. He was ordained to Holy Priesthood on January 31, 1960 in Montreal, Quebec and served the self ruled Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese humbly and faithfully for 47 years. He served the Orthodox community of Toledo from 1960 to 1970 and 1985 to 1992.
Surviving is his loving, dedicated, wife of 48 years, Marguerite (Haddad) Shaheen; children, Christina (Archpriest John) Reimann of Los Angeles, CA, Lorraine (John) Daher of Tampa, FL, Fr. Michael (Adma) Shaheen of Montreal, Quebec, Fr. Fred (Michelle) Shaheen of Cedar Rapids, IA; 9 grandchildren; sister, Sadie Shaheen of Canton, OH; and several nieces and nephews who will deeply miss him. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Archbishop MICHAEL Shaheen and George Shaheen.
A 9 days memorial service will be held at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, located at 555 Jean Talon East, on Sunday February 25th, 2007 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.
