Passed away peacefully on October 5 at the age of 78 in Montreal surrounded by his loving family. Will be sorely missed by his adoring wife of 50 years, Nancy (nee Atherinos), sons Piero (Joanie) and Marco (Tanya) and his grandchildren Juliana and Luca. Also missed by sister Ida (Vince), his twin brother Umberto (Mary), his nephew Michael, and nieces Gianna, Magda and Dina.

Born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt, Gio attended College St. Marc where he was a proud basketball player for the St. Marc team. Shortly after eloping with the love of his life, Nancy, they immigrated to Montreal in 1963 and started their family.

Gio will be remembered for being a true family man who dedicated much of his life to caring for others. Proud grandfather to Juliana and Luca, he devoted his spare time to being the best "nono" they could have asked for.
