Allan Chamandy

Allan Joseph Chamandy passed away peacefully, surrounded by his adoring family and friends.

He was the loving husband of Sandy (David) Chamandy, his highschool sweetheart, treasured wife of 44 years and very best friend.

He was the devoted and proud father of Lisa and Andrea; cherished father-in-law of Sami Hanna and Andrew Battah; and most adoring -and adored- "Grandpa" of Naomi and Jeremy Hanna and Tyler and Lucas Battah.

He will be remembered with love and affection by his sister, Beatrice Hattem; his cherished in-laws and lifelong friends Grace Battah, Carol and Robert David, Kathleen and Michael David; his nieces and nephews (Greg, Lesley, Carolyn, Mark, Cathy and Jay David, Paul and Carolyn Saad; Susie, Ray and Michelle Daoud; Michael, Peter and Susie Chamandy; Joanne and Nancy Battah; and Ray, Billy, Bobby and Andrew Hattem).

He will also be greatly missed by his friends, neighbours, business partners, golf buddies and so many people whose lives he touched and changed with his charisma, honesty and unbounded generosity.

He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Amelia; his siblings, Emile (Jacki Razook), Frances (Raymond Daoud), Diana (Raymond David and Wallace Saad); and his brother-in-law Gordon Battah.

Allan lived life to its fullest. He never missed an opportunity to laugh whole-heartedly, to work hard and passionately, to serve others, and to cherish friends and family.

The Royal Montreal Golf Club was Allan's "home away from home". He was always happy to be there.

Allan served as President of St. Lawrence Textiles from 1971 until his passing. He led the company with passion, love and dedication to his employees and collegues.

Allan was Past President of the Cedars Cancer Institute of the McGill University Health Center, an organization he loved, helped to build and served tirelessly for many years.

He was cared for in the past year by the wonderful doctors and staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital and the Montreal General Hospital. He and his family were particularly blessed with the care of Dr. David Dawson, Dr. Jeremy Sturgeon, Dr. Armen Aprikian and Dr. April Shamy.

Donations may be made to the Cedars Cancer Institute of the McGill University Health Center, or to St. Georges Antiochian Orthodox Church.
