Carl Madigan

 

Carl Thomas Madigan, a man whose life was marked by gentle wisdom, profound kindness, and unwavering dedication, peacefully passed away in his sleep at St. Mary’s Hospital on March 25, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Torquay, Saskatchewan, Carl built a life guided by the values of love, faith, and community. It was in Windsor, Ontario, where Carl met and married Margaret "Peggy" Finnigan, beginning a loving partnership that spanned 57 remarkable years. Their bond became the foundation for a nurturing home, raising their beloved children, Craig, Brent, and Sherry.

 

The son of Amy Knight and Thomas Madigan, Carl grew up alongside his sisters Frances, Margaret, Beatrice, Marlyn, and brothers Paul and Stephen, both of whom preceded him in passing.

 

An educator by both profession and passion, Carl completed his studies in Mathematics at the University of Windsor. His teaching career was one marked by devotion, positively influencing countless students throughout his tenure in the classroom and beyond. In 1999, Carl was honored by the Nova Scotia Agricultural College with the Faculty Award for Achievement in Teaching, a recognition highlighting his exemplary teaching skills and his commitment to adapting his courses to reflect advancements in technology. His dedication to his students earned him deep respect and gratitude.

 

Carl's spirit was deeply connected to his faith, and he devoted decades to the Congregation of Notre Dame as an CND associate. His generous and compassionate heart extended into the community through persistent acts of service and volunteerism.

 

A lifelong learner and reflective thinker, Carl dedicated himself to the pursuit of knowledge and spiritual growth.

 

Friends, family, and community members are warmly invited to celebrate Carl’s meaningful life at a funeral service to be held Saturday April 5th,  at 11:00 a.m.

                                                              Montréal, QC H2Y 1H4.
